The Maison Parfaite Yorkshire Grand Tour

Yorkshire is often described as ‘Gods Own County’ and we are giving you an exclusive opportunity to discover it for yourself, or even better, with a group of friends!

By day you will discover a rich variety of experiences, including majestic stately homes, gorgeous ‘chocolate box’ villages, ancient ruins, breathtaking scenery, magnificent architecture, medieval cities, brisk walks, culture, a turkish bath perhaps?, fabulous shopping, amazing afternoon teas, and even a little dip in the sea!.. The choice is yours, and we are here to help you pack as much, or as little as you like into your 7-10 day adventure.

In the evenings you will find wonderful restaurants, pubs or bars within a few minutes walk from any of our properties. And the highlight of course will be your chance to relax and pamper yourself in some, or all of our incredible homes. We can even send our chefs along to create a fabulous 3 course meal in your own kitchen and dine in style in your own home. Or perhaps you would like to learn how to make cocktails, or have a breakfast or afternoon tea served in your private dining room? We can provide whatever your heart desires!

Where you start and finish is up to you, but for this example we are starting in the fabulous, and cosmopolitan City of Leeds. With it’s amazing shopping, architecture, markets, cultural experiences, and an exceptional choice of restaurants and bars to suit every taste (and budget) there is a lot to discover in this vibrant and friendly City. You can dip in and out of your supremely comfortable suite at Maison Parfaite LS1 whenever you fancy, as we are perfectly located in the city centre.

On your way to Aysgarth you will be tootling along like James Herriot, through rolling countryside, taking in the awe-inspiring landscape and feeling on top of the world. Stopping off for a little hike up to Malham Cove, Brimham Rocks, or perhaps a stroll around the ruins of Bolton Abbey or Fountains Abbey. Along the way you will find quaint teashops to enjoy a slice of Wensleydale cheese with your fruit cake and Yorkshire tea.

You may like to relax at Aysgarth Nook by Maison Parfaite for a few days. Our 300 year old cottage provides lots of space to relax, you can enjoy a hot tub overlooking the Yorkshire Dales, have a barbecue on the terrace, our chefs can prepare you and your friends a 3 course dinner in the state of the art Kesseler kitchen and serve it to you at the enormous dining table, or you can nip across the road to a wonderful country pub for a tasty traditional dinner where all the ingredients are locally sourced.

Aysgarth is the perfect base to discover the delights of the Yorkshire Dales. Jump in the car and visit Bolton Castle, Jerveaux Abbey, market towns and villages like Richmond, Hawes and Leyburn (look out for the Forbidden Corner while you are there), and of course you definitely don’t want to miss a comfortable stroll to Aysgarth Falls themselves!

As you venture towards Harrogate we recommend a stop at Knaresborough which is a delightful place to have a coffee, a cocktail or a boat trip on the river, or you can visit the 12th century castle, Old Mother Shipton’s Cave, and have a little hike up to Knarsborough Cragg where you may discover the hidden ‘Our Lady of the Crag’ chapel.

Arriving at Maison Parfaite HG1 you can park in your private parking space right in the town centre. Relax with up to 7 guests in your large lounge, have a luxurious bath in either of the fabulous roll top baths, cook a special dinner in our amazing Kesseler kitchen which is full of Neff appliances and every utensil you could wish for, and dine on the huge slate dining table that seats up to 8 people.

Harrogate is a very up-market Spa Town with amazing shopping, lots of independent boutiques, restaurants and bars including the world famous Bettys Tearooms where you can enjoy superb afternoon teas, breakfast or dinner, or you can buy freshly cooked bread, cakes and pies to enjoy them at your fabulous duplex apartment down the road!

Harrogate is also famous for it’s Turkish Baths, and you definitely don’t want to miss the chance to relax and be pampered within such opulent surroundings. In the evening there are often world class music and theatre productions taking place around the town, and we will be delighted to make any bookings for you in advance of your tour.

There’s a wealth of interesting days out too. We recommend: Harewood House, RHS Harlow Carr, Pateley Bridge, Ilkley, Grassington, Masham (which has a very interesting history and while you are there you can take a tour of the ‘Old Pecular Ale’ brewery), or a visit to Howarth which was home to the Bronte Sisters, you can even have a picnic on Penniston Crag and listen out for Cathy calling for her Heathcliffe!

Staying at Maison Parfaite YO1 is a unique opportunity to live in a magnificent 400 year old Townhouse within the ancient city walls of York. You and up to ten guests have three floors of lavish accommodation. You will adore the grand Georgian interiors on the first floor with high ceilings, stunning plasterwork, deep casement windows and every luxury you could wish for. As you step up to the second floor you feel as if you are travelling through time to a tudor cottage, where a further three magical bedrooms are filled with wooden beams, supremely comfortable deep studded velvet beds, antique furniture, interesting nooks and crannies to discover, and a huge bathroom.

We recommend staying at least two nights in York if you can. The City is amazing and there is so much to see on your doorstep. Within a few minutes of leaving the townhouse, you can climb on to the ancient city walls at Micklegate and walk in the footsteps of Roman soldiers as you take in many of the city’s sights from above.

The Shambles delights millions of visitors every year with it’s gravity defying, crooked tudor buildings upon cobbled streets which are home to fabulous shops, cafes, bars, restaurants, and while you are exploring, see if you can find the 22 hidden cats!

York Minster is undoubtably one of the worlds finest gothic cathedrals, there are markets, crowd drawing street performers, a castle, and many exceptional museums including the Jorvik Centre, York Museum (formerly the debtors prison museum) which excites visitors with its old indoor streets filled with sounds and smells from various periods dating back thousands of years, The National Railway Museum which is much more than a few trains! even if you didn’t think you were interested in railways, you will love it here (see our full review on our news page), Other museums include Chocolate making, breweries, dungeons, ghosts and more!

Your tour could now take you towards the seaside for a few days of fresh air, coastal walks and relaxation in our glorious Victorian Villa at Robin Hoods Bay. On your way we really recommend a visit to Castle Howard. Just approaching it is breath taking! You drive for miles along grand boulevards of trees, deer parks and statues before you even arrive at the incredible house itself! Many movies and television series have been filmed here, and a walk through the grounds gives you an insight into the privileged life held by many generations of owners in a completely different era of supreme wealth and extravagance.

If you have time, we suggest making a little detour via Sutton Bank to view the famous Kilburn White Horse which can be seen from 45 miles away on a clear day! It is also said that the view from the top is one of the best in Yorkshire!

Rounton Villa by Maison Parfaite could be your home for the last few days of your tour. And what a place to end your journey! Robin Hoods Bay is a wonderful, tiny seaside town where a cute winding road takes you by curious old houses and shops down to a small quayside where you access one of the finest coastal walks in the UK. When the tide is out a very wide beach full of rock pools is such a romantic place for a stroll, or for children to play on the sand and in the sea. There are dramatic cliffs along the way and you can stop off at other small bays as you go for a coffee or lunch break overlooking the dramatic coastline.

Robin Hoods Bay

When you return to Rounton Villa, you can retreat to your own beautifully landscaped garden for a sunbathe, drink or barbecue, or relax in your own hot tub whilst listening to the birds tweeting in the lush trees and breathing the crisp rejuvenating sea air. The Villa is of course brimming with luxurious furnishings, two incredible Kesseler kitchens, two lounges, a conservatory and our signature cloud like beds for the best nights sleep you’ve ever had!

Staithes

Days out from Robin Hoods Bay could take you to numerous beautiful fishing villages, towns or resorts, such as Staithes, Whitby and Scarborough amongst many more… You can see quirky independent shops selling locally made gifts, art and farm produce, eat the very best Fish and Chips in the UK, go for a boat trip, challenge yourself to the Cycle Route 1 which connects to Scarborough, or simply enjoy the delightful coastal walks (insider tip: Try the Black Nab shipwreck or the Hayburn Wykes waterfalls which cascade into the sea). You will be in Selfie heaven wherever you choose to go!

So, for those who want it all, you may now have it all. You can take the diversity of the stunning dales villages, the rugged coastline and the bustling historic cities and roll it all into one fabulous adventure with the Maison Parfaite Yorkshire Grand Tour!

We’ll coordinate everything for you and provide maps and suggested stop-offs. You just let us know where you’d like to stay and we will quote you the best price for your adventure.
